AFK trust and safety

# What AFK is, what it is not, and how it keeps you safe

AFK is a peer-support app for anxious moments, not crisis care, not therapy. Askers are anonymous; supporters are shown only as a first name and a country flag. The app UI is currently English-only.

## What AFK is for, and what it is not

AFK is for:

- Anxious moments about work, relationships, finances, health, social situations, parenting, education, or general stress.
- Sharing a worry anonymously and hearing back from another person within minutes.
- Replying to someone else when you have something honest and human to offer.

AFK is not for:

- Suicidal or self-harm crises, danger to self or others, or medical emergencies.
- Therapy, diagnosis, or any kind of clinical treatment.
- Long ongoing conversations with one specific person - each AFK reply is a one-shot message.

**In a crisis?** If you are in immediate danger or thinking about hurting yourself or someone else, please use a crisis service instead of AFK. In the US you can call or text 988, or text HOME to 741741. International helplines are listed at findahelpline.com.

## Anonymity is asymmetric, on purpose

AFK only works if both sides feel safe. Askers are protected by full anonymity. Supporters show enough about themselves that their reply lands as another human being, not a faceless message.

### When you ask

No name, no photo, no profile. The only thing supporters see is the anxiety category you chose and the text of your request. Other AFK users cannot reach you outside of the request you posted.

### When you reply

Each reply you send carries your first name and a country flag, for example "John 🇷🇴". No surname, no photo, no profile beyond that. It is enough to feel human, not enough to be identified.

### What stays inside the app

There is no way for supporters to message you outside of the request you posted, and there is no way for askers to follow a specific supporter. Every reply is a one-shot message, by design.

The replies you receive on AFK are written by other AFK users. Real people, not AI. That is the whole point of the app.

## Moderation and the Reported control

AFK relies on its community plus an active moderation queue. If a reply is unhelpful, hostile, preachy, contact-sharing, or otherwise crosses a line, you can mark it Reported.

- ### Tap Reported on the reply.

Reported is the shipped safety control today. AFK does not currently offer a per-supporter block feature - if you see something that should not be on the app, Reported is how you tell us.
- ### We review reported content.

Our team reviews flagged replies and removes anything that violates the community guidelines summarized on the Give Support page. We aim to review reports promptly during business days; complex cases may take longer.
- ### Repeat offenders lose access.

Accounts that repeatedly send harmful replies are removed from AFK. That decision is ours to make and we make it conservatively, in favor of protecting the asker side of the marketplace.

Replies marked Reported are retained for safety investigations and for responding to law-enforcement or regulator requests where required. See the [privacy policy](/privacy/) for the full retention basis under GDPR Article 5(1)(e) storage-limitation review.

## How fast you should expect a reply

AFK is a live marketplace. Most requests get one or more replies within minutes, but supporter availability is not constant.

- During typical hours, expect the first reply within a few minutes. More than one reply is normal.
- During low-traffic hours, especially overnight in your region, replies can take longer.
- Each request auto-closes after 30 minutes, or as soon as 10 replies have arrived, whichever comes first.
- If your request closes without replies, you can submit a new one. AFK allows up to three support requests per hour per account.

While you wait, AFK shows a 4-4-6 breathing guide you can use (4 seconds in, 4 hold, 6 out). It is a small steadying tool, not a fix - just something to do with your body while another person reads your request.

## The AFK app is English-only right now

These trust and safety pages are available in English, Romanian, and Ukrainian, but the AFK app itself currently has an English-only interface. We are working on localized app UI; until it ships, requests and replies inside the app are in English.

The website pages you are reading now are translated to match the rest of animafelix.com. The honesty disclaimer is about the app, not the site.

## How AFK differs from the main Anima Felix app

AFK and the main Anima Felix app are two different products that share the same brand and the same care about anxious moments. Most people end up using both.

### AFK

For a live hand right now.

- Anonymous peer support from other AFK users.
- Real replies, usually within minutes.
- Appreciated, Not helpful, and Reported feedback.
- Free.

### Anima Felix

## Data and privacy in one paragraph

AFK stores your account (sign-in identity from Google or Apple), the requests you submit, the replies you send and receive, and your Appreciated, Not helpful, and Reported marks. That data is used to operate the service, to investigate safety reports, and to comply with GDPR rights. The full picture lives in the [privacy policy](/privacy/), including retention periods, lawful basis, and how to exercise your rights.

- [Read the privacy policy →](/privacy/) Full GDPR-aligned disclosure including AFK-specific processing in section 14.
- [Delete your account →](/delete/) One deletion flow covers both Anima Felix and AFK accounts.
- [Contact support →](/support/) Email support@animafelix.com for help with the app or your account.

## If you support others on AFK, take care of yourself

Reading other people's anxiety can be heavy. AFK is designed so you can step in when you have something honest to offer and step away when you do not.

- You are not on call. Open AFK when you have the energy to read a request, close it when you do not.
- You are not a therapist. A short, honest reply that says "I have felt that too" is often the most helpful thing.
- If a request worries you about someone's immediate safety, do not try to handle it alone - tap Reported so our team sees it.
- When you log off, log off. Do not take an asker's anxiety home with you.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is AFK safe?

AFK is designed around asker anonymity, supporter accountability through first name plus country flag, and a Reported control for unsafe replies. It is not a crisis service. Read this whole page for the full picture; the short version is that AFK is safe for anxious moments but should not replace crisis care, therapy, or medical attention.

### Is AFK a crisis service?

No. AFK is for anxious moments, not crisis care. If you are in immediate danger or thinking about hurting yourself or someone else, please use a crisis service instead. In the US you can call or text [988](https://988lifeline.org/), text HOME to [741741](https://www.crisistextline.org/), or find a local helpline at [findahelpline.com](https://findahelpline.com/).

### Are AFK replies written by real people or by AI?

Real people. Replies on AFK are written by other AFK users from their phones. They appear in your inbox with the supporter's first name and country flag.

### What does it mean when an asker marks my reply Appreciated?

The asker tapped the green Appreciated label on your message. You receive a push notification, and your reply now carries the Appreciated label in your sent history. It is the asker telling you, in one word, that your support helped.

### Can I block a specific supporter?

AFK does not currently have a per-supporter block feature. The shipped safety control is Reported. Mark a problematic reply Reported and our team will review it; repeat offenders are removed from the app entirely.

### What languages does AFK support?

The AFK app interface is currently English-only. These trust and safety pages and other AFK web pages are available in English, Romanian, and Ukrainian. We are working on localized app UI.

### How long does AFK keep my data?

Account data, requests, and replies are retained while your account is active and for a defined period after deletion, subject to GDPR Article 5(1)(e) storage-limitation review. Reported replies are retained for safety investigations. See the [privacy policy](/privacy/) for the full retention basis.

### How is AFK different from the main Anima Felix app?

AFK is anonymous peer support with live replies. The main Anima Felix app is a longer-term anxiety companion with AI chat, voice support, guided exercises, stories, and self-assessments. Most people end up using both - AFK in the moments, Anima Felix for everything between them.
